Self Catering Houses on the Isle of Harris
Of all the islands that make up the archipelago called the Outer Hebrides (or Western Isles) of Scotland it is the Isle of Harris which is considered by many, to have the finest beaches. In fact many believe the beaches found on South Harris to be some of the most beautiful in Scotland and the United Kingdom. However folk from other Hebridean islands would dispute this strongly.
Whichever way you look at it the Isle of Harris is one of the most incredible places in the British Isles. All along the island's west coast can be found superb beaches ranging in size from small coves to immense stretches of silver to golden sand backed by sand dunes or a unique type of land known as machair. Machair is incredibly fertile ground and, during the summer months, it is covered with a multitude of bl;ooming wild flowers creating a rich and colourful carpet.
Many folk taking a Hebridean vacation on the Isle of Harris choose to stay in a self catering house. There are many advantages to staying in a self catering house on the Isle of Harris and, while some appreciate the freedoms, others like to take the experience as a way of gaining a small taste of what it may be like to live on this wonderful island found off the west coast of Scotland.
